February 12, 2020

Odyssey Behavioral Healthcare announced the appointment of Richard W. Clark, FACHE, as president and chief operating officer.

Clark has 33 years of experience in healthcare, including a run from 2010-15 in which he was CEO of Universal Health Services. Most recently, Clark served as president of Acadia Healthcare’s Western Group, a position in which he led operations of 48 behavioral health centers and hospitals in 16 states. Clark also previously served as CEO of Ardent Health Services and Psychiatric Solutions.

Clark is being greeted by a familiar face at Odyssey: CEO Scott Kardenetz, who worked with Clark at UHS, Psychiatric Solutions and Ardent.

“[Clark’s] lengthy and successful career in behavioral health and acute care operations will be of great value to Odyssey as we grow our current services, expand our geographic reach and diversify our clinical offerings,” Kardenetz said in the statement. “Richard and I share a long track record together in this space. I'm looking forward to reuniting with Richard at Odyssey."

Based in Brentwood, Tennessee, Odyssey treats adults and adolescents for eating disorders, psychiatric conditions, substance use and technology addictions. Its offerings include: inpatient, intensive residential, partial hospitalization and outpatient services. Odyssey operates nine locations in seven states.
