Not-for-profit organization Mothers Against Prescription Drug Abuse, life sciences firm Emergent BioSolutions, and three Major League Baseball clubs are teaming up to raise awareness for overdose reversal medications among the general public.
The project is part of International Overdose Awareness Day, a global event held each year on Aug. 31. Emergent and MAPDA combined to produce announcements, videos and stadium presentations for the Boston Red Sox, Cincinnati Reds and Philadelphia Phillies that encourage viewers to engage in conversations with doctors, pharmacists and family members about obtaining overdose reversal medications. More information about the campaign is available at cutoutoverdoses.com.
MAPDA, a consumer organization that was founded by three mothers who lost children to prescription drug overdoses, aims to prevent prescription drug abuse and support individuals in recovery.
