Former Tennessee official joins JourneyPure staff

Stephen Loyd, MD, who most recently served as assistant commissioner for substance abuse services at the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, has joined the addiction treatment provider JourneyPure as medical director of its Middle Tennessee operations.

JourneyPure, which has residential treatment programs in Tennessee, Kentucky and Florida, operates four outpatient clinics and the residential facility JourneyPure at the River in Middle Tennessee. JourneyPure at the River in Murfreesboro includes men's and women's treatment and medically assisted detox.

Loyd also formerly held several positions at the Mountain Home VA Medical Center in Johnson City, Tenn., including chief of medicine. The news release announcing his appointment stated that Loyd has been in recovery since 2004.
